SACRAMENTO – Even with a $22 billion surplus, today California Democrats passed Assembly Bill 91 which will raise $1.9 billion in new taxes on small businesses.
Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) issued the following statement:
“On one hand, Democrats say they are providing a $220 million savings for small businesses, yet on the other, they are increasing taxes on small businesses by $1.9 billion dollars. The last thing Californians need is another tax increase especially when we have a $22 billion surplus. Small businesses need our help to keep their doors open and this will only hurt them,” said Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove.
