Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) released the following statement after the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) offered disaster assistance to California businesses and residents following two large magnitude earthquakes that hit Trona, Ridgecrest, and surrounding areas in July. The California Office of Emergency Services and Governor Newsom issued a letter to the SBA requesting federal assistance which would provide resources to businesses and residents of the affected regions.
"I thank Governor Newsom for his leadership in urging the SBA to provide federal assistance following the 6.4 and 7.1 magnitude earthquakes that shook our region. This declaration will help our business owners, renters, and homeowners in the recovery process. It is critical for those seeking assistance to apply as soon as possible to receive swift support. With this help, our communities will rebuild stronger than ever before," said Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove.
