SACRAMENTO – Today, Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) issued the following statement after Megan Dahle took the oath of office to represent California Assembly District 1. Assemblymember Megan Dahle will serve out the remainder of the term which was previously represented by her husband, Senator Brian Dahle. He vacated the Assembly District 1 seat after he was elected to represent California’s 1st Senate District in June.
“Congratulations to Megan on her bipartisan victory. Her strong and forward-thinking leadership is exactly what we need in Sacramento to fight for our farmers and hardworking families.
“Megan’s victory last week also means the California State Legislature now has 38 women elected to serve at the State Capitol which is a historic number of women. Women now make up nearly 31% of the state legislature. But more still needs to be done to recruit, train, and empower women leaders to serve in office whether it is on the local, state, or federal level,” said Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove.
Senator Grove is the first woman veteran elected to serve in the California Legislature and the third woman elected to serve as the Senate Republican Leader.
