Senate Republican Leader Grove Opposes Relocation of Sexually Violent Predator to Joshua Tree

SACRAMENTOSenate Republican Leader Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) has delivered a letter to Ventura County Superior Judge Nancy Ayers which outlines her opposition to the relocation of Ross Wollschlager to Joshua Tree. Wollschlager has a hearing on November 7, 2019 where Judge Ayers will make the final decision on whether or not the convicted sexually violent predator will be relocated to Joshua Tree. The 56-year-old felon was convicted in Ventura County on counts of rape, rape by false pretenses, and lewd and lascivious acts on a 10-year-old child.  Sacramento County opposed his release in August and his placement was rejected.

“To consider releasing a sexual predator with a history of violent acts against women and children in our community is unacceptable, irresponsible, and places our women and children at risks of being victimized. I strongly object to his relocation to Joshua Tree. There should be no extraordinary circumstances that justifies relocating a sexually violent criminal to a community where he has no ties. I urge Judge Ayers to reconsider his release in Joshua Tree,” said Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove.
