Senator Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) hosted a community event this morning to distribute water to Springville residents at the River Island Country Club located in Porterville. Senator Grove held the event in response to an ongoing drinking water shortage created by floods earlier this year that damaged wells.
“I am honored to help the Springville community address this critical water crisis,” said Senator Shannon Grove. “I have already requested assistance from local and state departments, in addition to other sources that can deliver water while long-term solutions are also underway. I am beyond thankful for everyone who is willing to work together and provide this urgent need for our community members.”
In addition to hosting the water distribution event, Senator Grove has called on the State Water Resources Control Board to allow Self Help Enterprises to provide temporary assistance for the Springville community. Specifically, to allow Self Help Enterprises to provide Del Oro Water Company with temporary water tanks, plumbing to tie into their service lines, and the hauling of three million gallons of water, which could be provided by the City of Porterville at no cost to the county or state.
Senator Grove is committed to working with all community partners and agencies to ensure her constituents in Springville have a reliable water source.
