SACRAMENTO - Today, Senator Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) released the following statement on the United States Department of Transportation’s announcement that California is in violation of the funding agreement for the high-speed rail project, which will result in the rescinding of $929 million of federal grant funds:
“I applaud the new Governor’s commitment to put the budget for high-speed rail online for every Californian to see, and to hold contractors and consultants accountable. But, it’s too late,” said Senator Shannon Grove.
“The high-speed rail project has been a disaster from the start and the violation has already occurred. It is mismanaged, overbudget, and does not comply with what the voter’s approved. We shouldn’t be surprised that the federal government wants to pull this money.”
