MEDIA ADVISORY: Remains of Marine Will Return Home to Bakersfield to a Hero's Homecoming

Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield), distinguished guests, and the family of United States Marine Private First Class Joseph Robert Livermore will welcome the WWII Marine home on Thursday, November 14th.  Killed in combat at the Battle of Tarawa, Private Livermore had been missing for 76 years. This week, the World War II Marine will finally return home where he will be buried near his mother at Union Cemetery in Bakersfield on Friday, November 15th.

WHAT:

Remains of missing Bakersfield Marine will return home.   

WHEN:

Thursday, November 14th: (Times are approximate.)
6:40AM: Private Livermore’s remains will arrive at Los Angeles International Airport.
7:00AM: Military Plane-side ceremony
7:30AM: Motorcade procession with Los Angeles Patriot Riders leaves LAX.
9:00AM: At the Frazier Mountain Park exit, the Bakersfield Patriot Riders will take over the motorcade procession and lead it to Bakersfield.
10:00AM: Motorcade will exit at Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield and take the procession through city streets. This route includes passing by the home of Private Livermore and East Bakersfield High School where he graduated.
11:30AM: Procession ends at Union Cemetery where there is media availability.
