Senate Republican Leader Grove Is Proud of Kern and San Bernardino Counties

SACRAMENTO – Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) issued the following statement as first responders in Kern and San Bernardino Counties transition to the recovery phase after two powerful earthquakes rattled Ridgecrest, Trona, and surrounding areas:

“Over the last few days, residents, families, and business owners of California’s 16th Senate District have been put to the test with two massive earthquakes. But our faith in God remains strong as we support each other and move forward.

“Through it all, residents of Kern and San Bernardino Counties remain resilient and are undeniably strong. I am proud of our families and thankful for the first responders who have remained steadfast over the past several days to help those in need.

“The recovery phase is now in effect, whether it is rebuilding a home or calming frazzled nerves, it will take time. I cannot stress enough the importance of being prepared to protect your family and loved ones should another earthquake occur. In the meantime, Kern and San Bernardino Counties stand unified and ready with emergency services should Mother Nature strike again," said Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove.

Later today, a town hall will be held at Kerr McGee Community Center in Ridgecrest at 4:00PM to share information with residents, families, and business owners. Representatives from local, state, and federal agencies will be in attendance to answer questions and provide information on various services to help communities impacted by the earthquakes. Senator Grove’s staff will be in attendance to provide constituent services to anyone in need.

In the meantime, Senator Grove’s office remains open today to help Bakersfield and Ridgecrest families.
