Senator Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) released the following statement in response to the news that Congressman Doug LaMalfa passed away:
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the profound sadness of losing my dear friend, Congressman Doug LaMalfa. Though he has left this world, I find comfort in knowing that Jesus welcomed him at the gates of Heaven with open arms, for everything Doug did was to bring glory and honor to our Lord and Savior.
"From toiling the soil as a fourth-generation rice farmer to his dedicated legislative work in the Assembly, Senate and Congress, Doug represented the people of Northern California with unwavering faithfulness and the love of Jesus. He deeply cared for his constituents, his family, and the rural communities he championed. He was a devoted husband, father, and a great man whose legacy touched so many lives.
"We are lifting up his wife Jill, their children, and the entire LaMalfa family in prayer. We ask the Lord to wrap His loving arms around them, providing the comfort and peace that only He can give.
"It was an honor of a lifetime to serve alongside Doug. California has lost an incredible conservative advocate, but Heaven has gained a faithful servant.”
