Leno’s Law would allow for a 35 year rolling smog check exemption for classic cars

Senator Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield), joined by Jay Leno and classic car enthusiasts, are revving up support for Senate Bill 712, also known as Leno’s Law. This bipartisan measure would exempt classic cars that are 35 years or older from the state’s biennial smog check program. Leno’s Law has garnered bipartisan support, including the chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, Senator Cortese (D-Silicon Valley) as a co-author. SB 712 has a hearing on April 8th at 1:30 PM. Prior to the hearing, Senator Grove, Leno who is the sponsor of SB 712, and dozens of car enthusiasts will cruise around the State Capitol, which will end near the West Steps for a press conference at 11:30AM. Classic cars will be on display on 10th Street between N and L Streets, on both the East and West Side of 10th.
